Pink Naked Mannequins in Manhattan
This weekend I travelled to New York City for to cover the 2008 IFBB New York Pro bodybuilding contest for Muscletime. I met with up with my friend Raymond Cassar, the man responsible for all the great photography on the Muscletime website. Raymond took approximately 1,600 bodybuilding photographs during the show, some of which have already been uploaded.
I had some free time to hang out with the pink naked mannequins at Macy’s and walk around Manhattan.

I learned on Friendfeed that a major Google PageRank update just took place. The homepage of my most trafficked website Mesomorphosis.com has consistently had a PR4 (mostly) and occasionally PR5 for over 5 years; several dozen pages on the site were PR4 and PR3. After the most recent update practically every single one of these pages dropped from PR4 and PR3 to PR0. The MESO-Rx hompage dropped from PR4 to PR2.
Since the last PageRank update, I’ve probably posted close to 200 original blog articles on the MESO-Rx blog. And not to brag, but they are all quality, relevant content that was 100% on topic and related to anabolic steroids So, why was I penalized?
Needless to say, this is highly unusual especially when some of my other less trafficked, inactive and non-functioning sites have increased or at least maintained PageRank.
MillardBaker.com, which I last updated two months ago, increased to a PR3
SteroidMedia.com, which has always been an incomplete and inactive site with no real content, remained a PR3
SteroidReport.com, which has only been active for about six months, remained a PR4.
Another highly trafficked website which I’ve partnered with a company in Europe is Muscletime.com. The PageRank increased from a PR3 to a PR4 and deservingly so with quality original content (bodybuilding photography) added on a daily basis.
Should I be suspicious of malicious manipulation of MESO-Rx’s PageRank by a competitor, etc.? Maybe some inbound link manipulation?
At any rate, I am happy to focus on making my website(s) better and better by producing more quality content for visitors.

Muscle Art for My Website Header
Many people have asked me about the new header for MillardBaker.com. It was adapted from a photograph of pro bodybuilder Silvio Samuel taken by Muscletime photographer Raymond Cassar. It is my tribute to two awesome artists. The photo is example of the art form inherent in bodybuilding and physique development.
Silvio Samuel recently won the Muscletime Award for Best Abdominals at the 2008 Iron Man Pro. The header photo featurs the intersection and tie-ins between the obliques, intercoastals, and pectoral muscles.
Here is the original photo:

There has been a lot of excitement on campus at the University of Texas at Austin in anticipation of the Democratic presidential debate between Senator Barack Obama and Senator Hillary Clinton. UT football coach Mack Brown extended an invitation to both candidates to visit the Longhorn football team and facilities. Only Obama accepted the invitation taking part in the tradition of rubbing lockers for luck in his evening debate with Sen. Clinton.
In Texas, football has an exaggerated sense of importance. So, I think the political photo opportunities of the visit with the Longhorn football may represent yet another shrewd political move by the Obama campaign. Football is taken seriously in the State of Texas as noted by this columnist. Obama 1, Hillary 0.

Kevin Levrone at the Firehouse Grill
Just as we were leaving to head to LAX, Kevin Levrone walks into Firehouse and talks to Raymond. Raymond introduces him to me, my wife and daughter. Levrone is one of the all time great bodybuilders. He has retired from bodybuilding in order to pursue an acting career; he had a good role in the movie Redline last year. His next movie “I Am” will be out in the fall.

Jay Cutler Eating at the Firehouse Grill
We went to the Firehouse Grill on our way to LAX for brunch. When we walked in, we saw Jay Cutler eating the “Bodybuilder’s Breakfast” - 6 pancakes, chicken breast and scrambled egg whites.
Jay held a seminar yesterday and told the audience that he is getting tired of eating like a bodybuilder. Kris Gethin wrote about this in his blog:
He says his food is disgusting. Eating 20 egg whites and two yolks for breakfast is the hardest. This is what he finds is the hardest part of bodybuilding. He hasnt eaten for taste for 16 years but would love to eat bacon and eggs for a change.

I saw IFBB Daron Lytle in the audience during the finals of the 2008 Iron Man Pro. I first met Daron in Brussels, Belgium at the 2007 Belgium Nationals (where Clarence DeVis won his pro card and Muscletime was the only pro bodybuilding news organization in attendance). Daron Lytle moved to California in December 2007. Daron lived with his wife and two daughters in Belgium for the past several years while his wife was stationed overseas with the U.S. military. He is a really nice guy who competed in his first pro show at the 2007 Santa Susana Pro show in Spain.
Daron Lytle is looking forward to aggressively pursuing his bodybuilding career now that he is in the United States. He plans on competing in the 2007 New York Pro show. In the meantime, he is looking to gain more exposure in the industry. He is actively pursuing his dream of being a pro bodybuilder. Daron attended the Lift Studios seminar at the Iron Man Pro Expo to learn some marketing tips from Isaac Hinds.
Daron Lytle is the only IFBB pro to also work as a talented professional DJ in the music industry. Keep an eye out for Daron to make an impact in the bodybuilding industry in the future.

Isaac Hinds Marketing Seminar
I chatted with Isaac Hinds from Lift Studios after he gave a very informative marketing seminar during the 2008 Iron Man Pro weekend events. Isaac is a prime example of someone who pursued his passion for bodybuilding and fitness and parlayed it into a career in the industry. He shared his experience and offered tips to others during his seminar.
